After much consideration, you’ve finally decided to purchase a laptop computer instead of a bulky desktop. That may have been a tough decision for you, but there’s still one important question you must answer before anything else-what exactly will you be using the laptop for? More specifically, which of the following styles will best suit your needs: all purpose, business power use, or ultra-portability? If you need help deciding, this guide can help point you in the right direction.

All Purpose

All purpose laptops can do it all and are a great choice for most notebook users. They deliver the best mix of performance and features at a reasonable price. Although they are heavy and somewhat difficult to lug around, their power and multimedia capabilities can match those of desktops. With an all purpose laptop, you can competently browse the web, do e-mail, archive your photos, play music, and even watch movies. If you need power but don’t have enough room for a large desktop, then an all purpose laptop is the perfect choice for you. Many entertainment lovers will want to invest in an all purpose laptop. A good brand for notebooks that can handle graphic intensive applications, hold loads of videos and data and come with all the bells and whistles you’ll want are Sony laptops.

Business Power Use

Business laptops are most frequently determined by the manufacturer. They’re more conservative in style, have added security, and use stronger materials around their cases. A good business laptop should have a hard drive big enough to store all your word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and any other important information. Also, it should come equipped with a CD or DVD burner so you can back up your data. Other important features you should look for in a business laptop include: wireless networking capability; portable printer; handheld scanner; and long battery life. Just make sure the laptop you buy is capable of handling all your business needs and in this economy, is a good deal. Toshiba laptops offer all the features above and are a great value for your business, getting the most for your money.

Ultra-Portability

If you want a lightweight laptop to accommodate your traveling lifestyle, then an ultra-portable laptop is the way to go. Ultra-portable laptops defy gravity by integrating every laptop component into the smallest frame possible. The difference between four and eight pounds may not sound like much, but you’ll certainly feel it the first time you have to carry it across town. Of course, there are a few tradeoffs: a smaller screen, less capacious battery, reduced-size keyboard. All in all, ultra-portable laptops have standard features and can perform basic functions, but there may be a slight difference in terms of power. If you want a true ultra-portable laptop and don’t need to store a lot of data or run several applications at once and just want web access then you should look into a netbook, which is an even smaller, lighter portable laptop specifically designed to access the net.

As you can see, it is important that you take time to assess your needs and what you hope to accomplish with a laptop. Doing this helps you determine which laptop style is the best fit for you. Keep in mind that a laptop should be something you are comfortable using and carrying. Be sure to also check out Tablet PC’s, Thin Laptops, and Rugged Laptops in case these are a more exact fit for you.

One of the best netbooks: Asus EEE PC 1005HA is now $278 instead of $399 on Amazon.(I said one of the best but if you do not mind the processor issue because now there are Intel Atom N450 processor but this one has N280.)
Although most of the people can know the features of Asus Eee PC 1005HA, still it would be useful to remind those features;

Intel Atom N280 (1.66GHz, 512KB L2 Cache, FSB 667MHz)

1 GB SODIMM memory

As i said, Asus EEE PC 1005HA was one of the best netbooks out there, before there are new processor. However, if you do not mind the processor stuff, it is the time to but this netbook because this price is the lowest one i have ever seen for this netbooks. Go head and get one for you!

At top-netbooks.co.uk we get a chance to see how all netbooks are selling across multiple merchants. This allows us to ascertain which netbooks customers are actually buying, uninfluenced by the marketing of individual retailers. Here’s our round-up of the netbooks that are generating lots of sales here in the UK.

1) Samsung N140

Samsung netbooks always get lots of interest on our website. With a combination of a low price and fantastic battery life the N140 has been a best-seller on the site for a couple of months.

2)Samsung N130

While slightly cheaper than its big brother the N140 the N130 netbook still has very similar features and an only slightly reduced battery life.

3)Acer Aspire One 531

Again, this is a low priced netbook with a solid, but unexciting specification. As we run a comparison website – our average visitor is looking more towards the budget end of the spectrum, and this has been one of their favourites for a while now.

4)Samsung N220

This is a newer Samsung model featuring the new Atom N450 processor. It has long battery life and a sexy red or green case. Prices are starting to dip under £300 now so this is proving a popular little netbook.

5)Asus Eee PC 1005HA

The Asus is a sexy little netbook with the great sea-shell case and a decent battery life. Many say that it’s the best value netbook you can get if you compare price and features. Asus used to rule our website. They had about 30 models of netbooks and can claim to have invented the niche. However Samsung have since stolen their crown pushing performance and battery life to their limits.

Asus is known for its exclusive Eee PC and this new Eee PC 1005PE-PU17-BK known is the latest release to its netbook queue. It’s the newest Intel Atom N450 processor. The new processor gains the netbook to run 14 hours, as modified on the data sheet of the netbook. Let us look at the other details of the device and decide whether it is not worth to a buy or not.

Design and Building

There’s nothing new in the design itself and all seems to look like the 1005 HA Seashell. The overall design is a bit thicker, with its removable battery life, however doesn’t look weird at any cost. The overall build quality is very good like this for a budget laptop and has a pretty solid feel.

Performance

The new Intel Atom N450 is a powerful processor, however in almost the same processing capability as the joint N270 or N280 processor. However the difference is because it uses the Intel GMA 3150 graphics, while the older Atom 280 processors with the Intel GMA 950 graphics card has been inserted. The system is a bit better position, things like HD video, or an occasional meeting or vision, etc. Don’t try to handle a high def 3-D game play in that unit because you will probably be disappointment. The 1 GB SDRAM is well enough for normal everyday tasks, and the 250 GB hard drive is enough for all your favorite music and videos and all the others, what to save.

Display

The display is a standard 1024 X 600 pixel display measuring 10.1 inches diagonally. The screen is a bright one, a very good brightness and contrast is with live colors, however, as was common, it loses from reflections and glare in bright light conditions. When it comes to viewing angle of the display, I’d say that the vertical viewing angles are fairly average, and the horizontal ones just a little bit better. You don’t need to worry about, as you will not see an HD movie in this netbook with a few friends.

Audio

We were impressed with the sound quality, but, particularly considering the average quality of the budget netbook speakers. The speakers sounded very good, even at high volume without distortion. The high and midrange sound was very good and it’s apparently not a bass without a separate subwoofer, don’t hear about the 1005PE-PU17-BK. A good headset for the music lovers, as always, is recommended.

Keyboard

The keyboard is very resilient and have good feedback and response. It’s a good response to sound press the keys and the chicklet style keyboards are very good to see very well. We had no problem typing at high speeds in this keyboard if we expect that the keys to a bit bigger.

TouchPad

The touchpad also has very good resonance with synaptics technology. The surface of the touch pad is rough and feels very well during the movement of our fingers on the touchpad. It also supports multiple finger gestures and sign language, you are able to customize them as well. But, the buttons are not so good. They have a very shallow feedback, and it is very unpleasant, click it comfortably.

Ports

It’s VGA out, USB port, Security lock slot and power jack on the left side and a 4 – in – 1 card reader, headphone and microphone jack and two more USB port and an Ethernet connector needed at the right side. It is not missing any important slot however not yet advanced connections such as Firewire or HDMI port. However the port selection should be more than enough for normal use.

Battery life

The new processor is the biggest advantage of better battery life. In our tests, we have a large 12-hour period with little or no use of our will to break all previous records. With the heavy workload, you can expect 1005PE-PU17-BK to run at least 8 hours, this is not a joke by all means.

Conclusion

If you want an animal power, this is not the laptop for you, however if you have a sleep mode, there is no better laptop than this. With its stellar battery life and good overall properties and the build quality is definitely a good laptop for those who will use it for normal everyday use of energy sources for quite some time.
