The first was the development of 3D processor chips. This is a system that Intel says allows them to build much smaller, and much faster, chips – potentially keeping them ahead of Moore’s Law (the prediction that says processing speed will double every two years) for a good while to come yet. 3D chips have the potential to make even the average desktop into something of a super computer, though they’re some way away from mass production.

The second development was the 3D computer screen. 3D computer screens are exactly what they say on the tin, and are perfectly suited for people who want to watch 3D films, or play 3D games, on the go. As far as games are concerned, the big manufacturers are just gearing up for it, but there’s a lot of PC games around in 3D already, so if you splash out on a monitor, you’re sure to have something to keep you occupied.
