For those who did not hear about it. Leeenux Netbook OS is a linux distribution for netbooks. New version includes Firefox 3.7 beta, Thunderbird for email/calendar management, and multiple emulators for SNES and Sega Genesis. It is only 1.2 GB. As you can imagine it is a free OS for your netbook also you can download it from here.

Also here is what they define themselves.

Why Leeenux?

Because it’s fast.

Stable.

Works Out of the Box.

Free.

Instalation takes only 1.2GB.

It is the best linux distribution for Asus eee with 7″ screens.

Uses Ubuntu Netbook Remix menu, adjusted for netbooks with small screens.

Battery life is much longer with eee-control.

Leeenux Compared To Other Operating Systems

Supperior in features and apps compared to Xandros.

No need to configure hardware, like in Ubuntu UNR. Also its lighter.

Without bloating and propriatery apps like EasyPeasy. Much lighter, EP takes up to 3.5GB when installed.

Better experience than Windows XP. Not to mention liberty or price.

Less space consuming, faster and without limitations compared to Win7 for netbooks. Battery life too.

To be frankly, i am a type of person who does not wanna pay for Windows for extra about $100, therefore; i believe choosing a linux one is better, i think. Whether this one or not.

Although lots of the netbooks comes with Windows pre-installed. Especially nowadays Windows 7. You may wonder why you need to switch to the Linux. There are a few compelling reasons to do so, and they have come down to one word: freedom. You should also consider the practical reasons, such as having an OS that is not susceptible to malware and so on.

Working with Linux means working in freedom. With Linux, you do not just get the operating system for free; you get your applications for free, as well. After installing Linux, you have a complete working environment on your computer. The operating system lets you perform basic operations on your computer and also runs all the applications you need. And if ever you require and application that has not been installed by default, you can download it from the internet – again for free.

Linux has its strengths and its limitations. You cannot run Windows applications out of box ( a solution called Wine helps you do so if you really want to). In the beginning, that may be difficult from time to time, because Linux applications are different from those in Windows. But in time you will get used to them and find Linux alternatives for your Windows applications. And you will not want to switch back to Windows.

Linux on netbook means FREE-dom

What do you think?
